| ![]() ![]() Charting Your Basal Body Temperature by Marjorie Greenfield, M.D. reviewed and revised by Marjorie Greenfield, M.D. Using the Basal Body Temperature Chart, record your morning temperature for each day of your menstrual cycle, starting with the first day of your period. When you've completed your month's cycle, connect the dots. Note where there's a dip in the graph, followed by a steep and sustained rise. That dip most likely represents your time of ovulation and can help you plan for next month. In this sample chart, for example, , this woman seems to ovulate around day 10 of her menstrual cycle. That means that her best chance of becoming pregnant should occur between days 7 and 11 of her monthly cycle. This may seem early to you, but in this example the menstrual cycle is short--about 24 days--which indicates early ovulation. On average, ovulation occurs 14 days before the next period is destined to start. Make several copies of the Basal Body Temperature Chart to chart your own BBT. We hope that it will be helpful and you'll have good news soon!
