Feeding Plan for Infants: Solids Five Times a Day

by Mary Silva, M.S., R.D.
reviewed by Laura Jana, M.D., F.A.A.P.
Feeding your infant solid foods depends on not only how much and how often she wants to eat, but also your family's schedule. It doesn't really matter whether infants are fed solid foods three or five times a day; some even settle in at twice-a-day feedings and simply eat a lot at both sittings.

Here's a sample chart with feeding suggestions for an infant who builds up to eating solids five times a day by 8 to 10 months. These are only suggested serving sizes--the amount your baby eats and drinks will vary. In addition, some infants get a slower start in mastering solid foods, so the age at which they advance might be later than babies who took to the transition more quickly.
