She was married to Dr. Benjamin Spock for 23 years, met her husband in California, and became an integral part of his career. She negotiated contracts, managed publicity and speaking tours, supervised the publication of new editions of Baby and Child Care worldwide, scheduled interviews, and consulted on video and print publications.
