Landon Jones Director
Former Vice President of Strategic Planning, Time, Inc.
Mr. Jones is a recently retired senior executive from Time Inc., where he last served as Vice President for Strategic Planning. Prior to this assignment, Mr. Jones spent eight years as managing editor at People magazine, the most successful weekly publication in the world. Under his leadership, People's circulation reached record highs, and in 1992 the magazine successfully launched its first international edition, Who Weekly. He also directed the testing and launch of In Style, the phenomenally successful celebrity lifestyle monthly in June 1994, and People en Espanol, the first general-interest publication aimed at the U.S. Hispanic market. Mr. Jones also guided the creation of People's first online website. As well as serving as editor of the Princeton Alumni Weekly in 1969-74, he has reported, written, and edited at Life, Time, Money, and People since 1966. Mr. Jones is the author of two books, Great Expectations: America and the Baby Boom, which coined the phrase "baby boomer" and was nominated for an American Book Award in 1991, and The Essential Lewis and Clark, an edited version of the explorers' journals published by HarperCollins in 2000. |
